Developing Skills to Support An Independent Life Through Occupational Therapy
Our leading child development centre, located in Kannammoola,Thiruvananthapuram has developed an occupational therapy programme targeted at supporting children in the development of physical, sensory and cognitive skills necessary to carry out daily living activities, participate in school and achieve overall independence.
Our dedicated therapists, located at our occupational therapy centre in Thiruvananthapuram, evaluate a child's individual needs and develop engaging, play-based interventions. In addition to providing early intervention and child development services in Kerala, we help children to develop their ability to participate fully in the activities that fill their daily lives, whether it be succeeding in preschool, playing with their peers or managing self care routines.
Main Areas of Focus:
Sensory Integration
Helping children to process, organise and appropriately respond to sensory information.
Fine Motor Skills
Helping children to build small muscles required for writing, cutting, grasping and buttoning.
Visual Motor Coordination
Helping children translate visual information into accurate physical actions/movements, an essential skill for completing daily tasks and participating in inclusive education.
Independent Living and Self Care Skills
Supporting children with disabilities to become independent in daily routines (e.g., eating, dressing and maintaining good hygiene).
Here’s how we do it:
Comprehensive Evaluation
To begin assessing your child's unique developmental strengths and weaknesses, we will utilize standardized tests designed for young children, as well as conduct clinical observations on your child.
Customized Goal Setting
After conducting interviews with the parents of a child, we will then develop an individualized, intervention plan that is specific to the child's learning style, as well as the parent's overall goals for their child.
Play Based Intervention
The clinical interventions we provide will occur in a "top quality" health care clinic, and consist primarily of structured play time, utilizing specialized equipment and utilizing age-appropriate stimulating activities in order to motivate the child to develop the skills they need.
Family Training
As part of the process of preparing for their child's successful transition from the clinic environment back into their home, we will provide parents with home programmes and strategies on how to ensure that the skills acquired in the clinic are successfully transferred to the home and child care and education environments.
